We will cover topics such as the unique physical and chemical properties of water, the principles of plate tectonics, specific aquatic ecosystems, and the effects of human and natural phenomena on those ecosystems. We will also dissect marine species and incorporate STEAM activities throughout the course. This Class Includes: Lecture and lab for 18- 2-hour classes @ $10/hr; Clam Dissection - kit included in overall course price. ($8.95); Dauphin Island Field Trip to the Aquarium with STEM activity at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab Discovery Hall - field trip included in the overall course price. ($29.50) Date: Friday, October 4, 2024. This will be an all-day trip to Dauphin Island Sea Lab where we will tour the aquarium facility and participate in an activity titled, "ROVing the Gulf". Description: Students design, build and fly their own unique remotely operated vehicle (ROV). As they do, they explore buoyancy, hydrodynamics and apply the engineering design process. Students learn to work in teams and rise to challenges as their ROVs carry out missions. The educator shares local and global examples of ROV use in underwater research, exploration, and industry. Because all of the teachers at The Country Schoolhouse are individual contractors, we all handle our registration process a little differently.
